Cringe

A pun or a proverb, an insincere smile
He'd splutter and sniff and choke back the bile
A butcher in stripes or fat, brass bands
He'd cower away, his head in his hands
He'd cringe at anything he thought was cliché
A 'haven't you grown' or 'have a nice day'
He wanted the different
He wanted the new
And wished for a world that nobody knew
